Multiple pregnancy is a pregnancy with two or more fetuses and is linked to factors such as:

  • A family history of multiple pregnancy
  • Older age – you have a greater chance of a multiple conception (usually twins) if you are over 30
  • Ovulation-stimulating medications

The symptoms of a multiple pregnancy are:

  • Uterus larger than expected for stage of pregnancy
  • Increased morning sickness
  • Bigger appetite
  • Putting on excessive weight, especially in early pregnancy
  • Feeling fetal movements in different parts of the abdomen at the same time
